Pleasant greetings, smiling faces, anticipation and excitement, transformed Saturday morning’s cold frigid air, to a glowing radiating warmth on this very special day. One hundred and fifteen students (thirteen schools) and their coaches, parents, and siblings came to enjoy the spirit of a friendly scholastic chess competition and have a great time. The free tournament was sponsored by Renaissance Knights Chess Foundation and the Henry Clay School. Henry Clay hosted the tournament and was able to raise money for their school from the sales of the food the PTA provided. It was a wonderful event! Many coaches and children were very happy to have participated, and they thanked the organizers and the school. Everyone was delighted to witness the joy this tournament brought to the students & how many came in the cold to invest their day in chess.
