Stevenson HS was the only undefeated team out of 118 teams (over 1,000 players) competing in the IHSA Team Championship held in Peoria IL. on February 8-9, 2008.  Hard work, perseverance, team spirit, talent, dedicated coaches, supporting school and parents, plus a dream of the first state title, are  some of the most important elements these champions possess. Their coaches, who have immense devotion for them, offered two chess meetings a week and chess throughout the summer. Congratulations to the team and their coaches (Scott Oliver & Robert Krause).
