Come play chess at Mayor Daley’s Holiday Sports Festival, America’s largest indoor play ground with over one million square feet of fun. 

This is a great tournament for both beginners & experienced players.  Special hotel rate of $89:  Hyatt Regency McCormick Place (312) 567-1234; mention Mayors Office of Special Events.

 

Format:          4-Round Swiss – Game in 30 Minutes – No elimination, everyone plays all 4 games

 

8 Sections:      Scholastic:     Grades K-2 Championship & Reserve Sections

                                              Grades 3-5 Championship & Reserve Sections

                                              Grades 6-8 Championship & Reserve Section

                       High School:   5-board team non USCF rated (meets ISHA requirement)

                       Adult:             Open Championship & Reserve Sections

 

                            Championship sections: USCF–Rated & requires USCF membership

                            Reserve sections: Not rated & does not require USCF membership

 

Awards:          Scholastic & adult - Trophies to top 10 individuals & top 3 teams* (scholastic) in each section.

                       High School - Trophies to top 3 teams with medals for team members.

More trophies may be awarded depending on pre-entries.  USCF recommended tiebreaks will decide trophy placement.  Each section must have at least 10 players or sections will be combined.

*Teams must have a minimum of 4 players from the same school to be eligible for team awards.  There is no maximum number of numbers of players on a team.

 

Round Times:  10 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM & 3:00 PM

 

Entry Fee:       $10 per player before 12-20-08; $15 Day of event. 

                       USCF Memberships can be purchase online with entry

Miscellaneous: Sets provided, please bring a clock if possible.  USCF tournament rules (i.e. touch-move rule) will be enforced for all sections. We accept purchase orders from CPS schools wishing to pay for their students’ entry fee.
